This page is dedicated to tailgater enthusiasts! I know you're out there cause so am I! In the coming weeks you will see this page grow into something special. We're going to start off with just some tips and guidelines to enjoy tailgating!

Tailgate Recipes: This will be updated weekly with some good recipes for your tailgate! This week is the Memphis Tigers. Well, since tiger meat isn't exactly legal and it probably just tastes like chicken we're going to go with what the City of Memphis is known for. BAR-B-QUE!!! Some good barbeque places there. Home of Corky's and many others.

Parking:

Probably the most widely asked question... Where do I park? Well, if you've donated enough to get a good ranking in the VASF then you're all set but if you're an average bloke like myself; then you need a parking spot! There is actually a very good amount of parking but sometimes it's just not that easy to spot. How about on campus parking? Yes, there is on campus parking for FREE! You do you have to get there about 5-6 hours before game time but it's there! I'm talking about the many metered spots, which are free on weekends on Volunteer Blvd. You also have the spots in front of fraternity row but many RV's snag those spots EARLY. Basically anywhere on campus that has street parking is available if you get there super duper early!

If you don't want to start early there are plenty of paid parking spots all over. If you're looking for the $5-$15 range then Tyson park is for you. It's a long walk but it's a fair place to go and it benefits the ladies softball team(at least it did the last time I parked there). You need to enter Tyson Park from the Concord St. entrance as the other side on Cumberland Ave. will be blocked off. There are also two lots on Cumberland Ave. right before train track underpass. Again, a long way to walk and there are no portable potties in there so you need to consider that. You can park at some of the businesses on Cumberland Ave. for $25 but frankly that's not very good. Yes you're right in the middle of everything but honestly The Strip as it's called has fizzled the past few years. You have all the people to deal with walking by and that would be a security/safety risk. The World’s Fair parking lots are available and in a good location. For $20 at the lot on World's Fair Drive off of 11th street is very good. You also have a convention center lot off Cumberland Ave. on Poplar St. I believe it's $20 or $25 but worth it. No porta potties but there is a nice line of trees that need watering along the train tracks! This lot is sometimes rented out and sometimes only limited amounts are allowed in. You also have the church on the corner of Cumberland Ave. and Henley St. with restrooms available. It's either $15 or $20 and fills up fast! There are several small lots in the immediate vicinity for $15-$20 as well.

If you don't mind a long stretch of the legs you have the main convention center lot under the Holiday Inn off Henley St. for $5 or $10 parking. If you want to tailgate abroad.... (that means downtown away from all the crowds) then check out www.knoxparking.com for good information on those facilities which offer bus or trolley rides to and from the stadium.

Arrival Times:

Another question that always seems to come up is: “when should I get there”? Here is a simple guideline that I follow if I want to get some good tailgating in. This guideline is for general games, for BIG name games like Florida, LSU, BAMA, Georgia plan on 1-3 hours extra.

Noonish: These are those Jefferson Pilot games and normally arriving 3 hours before kickoff is good. These are the ones you just wake up and go

3-4pm games: 4 hours before kick-off is a good rule here.

5-8pm games: 5 hours before kick-off is a good rule here. You could probably slide by with 3-4 hours before kick-off but then you are limiting you parking availability.
